Fair Use Policy
Introduction
This Fair Use Policy (“Policy”) forms part of the Terms and Conditions between
Us and
You. It applies to all hosting and related services provided by
Us, including those advertised as
unmetered or
unlimited.
The purpose of this Policy is to ensure that all customers receive a consistently high level of performance and reliability, and that no single user’s activity unfairly impacts the experience of others. By using Our services, You agree to be bound by the principles and provisions of this Policy.
1. The Principle of Fair Use
Our hosting platform is designed to deliver generous, unmetered resources to typical websites and applications within each plan tier. “Unmetered” means that We do not impose arbitrary caps on resource usage or charge by the gigabyte. However, it does not mean “unlimited.”
Each hosting plan is priced and resourced in line with an expected level of normal use for that tier. When usage patterns significantly exceed those expected of the plan, the service begins to draw upon the same resources allocated to higher tiers — which would be unfair to other customers who pay more for additional capacity.
The purpose of this Policy is therefore not to limit legitimate growth, but to ensure that the cost and consumption of resources remain balanced across the shared environment.
2. What We Monitor
We continually monitor overall resource usage on Our hosting infrastructure to maintain optimal performance for all customers. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Disk Space – total server storage used by website files, email, logs, and other content.
- Bandwidth / Data Transfer – total data transmitted to and from Your site or account.
- Database Storage and Activity – total database size and activity level.
These measurements allow Us to identify services using disproportionate resources compared with their plan level.
3. Reasonable Use
Our hosting plans are designed to support the normal operational needs of business websites, e-commerce stores, blogs, and similar digital projects.
Examples of reasonable use include:
- Hosting websites that serve typical business, informational, or e-commerce traffic volumes.
- Storing files that are actively used by Your website or web application.
- Sending and receiving email consistent with normal business communication.
Examples of unreasonable or unfair use include:
- Using shared hosting as a file distribution or backup repository.
- Hosting large media or video archives for streaming or download.
- Running automated scripts or cron jobs that heavily consume CPU or disk I/O.
- Operating high-traffic applications that would normally require dedicated resources.
4. How Fair Use Is Determined
Fair Use is not based on strict numeric limits but on comparative usage within plan tiers. We continuously evaluate each account’s consumption against:
- the average and expected range for that product type and tier; and
- the resources available to other users on the same shared environment.
When Your usage consistently exceeds what is considered typical for Your plan — to the extent that it affects other customers or reflects the usage profile of a higher-tier plan — We may deem this to exceed Fair Use.
5. Notification Process
We believe in transparency and communication. If Your usage begins to exceed what is considered fair:
- At around 80% of expected utilisation for Your tier, We will send a courtesy advisory encouraging You to review optimisation steps or consider upgrading.
- At or around 100%, meaning Your usage is consistently operating at levels associated with higher-tier plans, We will send a Fair Use Notification explaining available options and the potential for Fair Use adjustments or charges.
These notices are not punitive — they are intended to prevent service disruption and help You plan future growth.
6. Fair Use Charges
When usage remains beyond Fair Use levels, additional resource charges may apply. These are not penalties, but a fair way of ensuring that customers using higher levels of shared resources contribute proportionately to the cost of providing them.
- Charges are calculated in proportion to the additional load imposed (e.g., excess disk space, data transfer, or processing demand).
- Fees are modest and reflective of the next suitable plan tier.
- Charges are normally applied in arrears, with clear itemisation on Your invoice.
If excessive usage persists, We may recommend or automatically move Your service to a more appropriate plan to maintain fairness and performance across all users.
7. Our Commitment to Continuity
We do not automatically suspend, throttle, or disable services solely for exceeding Fair Use levels. We understand that growth and spikes in activity are often positive signs — and We will always prioritise continuity of service.
Instead, We:
- notify You early;
- provide guidance to reduce usage if appropriate; and
- maintain Your service online while applying proportionate Fair Use adjustments if required.
This approach ensures that Your website stays live, Your visitors are not affected, and other customers continue to enjoy consistent performance.
8. Optimisation Support
We will always assist in helping You make the most of Your resources. Our team can provide recommendations and support for:
- content and image optimisation;
- caching and CDN configuration;
- database housekeeping;
- removal of redundant or temporary files; and
- appropriate plan upgrades when beneficial.
Our goal is not to restrict Your success, but to ensure that growth is sustainable and cost-effective.
9. Abuse & Evasion
Deliberate actions designed to circumvent Fair Use monitoring or redistribute excessive usage across multiple accounts will be treated as abuse and may result in immediate action, including suspension or termination.
10. Updates to This Policy
We may revise this Fair Use Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, pricing, or platform design. Any updates will be published on Our website and take effect immediately upon posting. Continued use of Our services constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
