Introduction
This article explains how to set up your Hippo Pro IMAP email account on an iPhone. The process is simple and takes just a few minutes. These settings use IMAP and SMTP, which we recommend for best compatibility and syncing across devices.
- Important Note: We recommend that you use IMAP rather than POP for your incoming server. It is a protocol made to support several devices accessing one same account, with all folders synced at our server. We are also unable to guarantee that our backups will work correctly, if you use a pop account.
Step-by-Step: Add Your Email to iPhone
Go to Mail Settings
-
Open Settings
-
Scroll down and tap Mail
-
Tap Accounts
-
Tap Add Account
-
Choose Other (Sometimes IMAP/Other)
-
Tap Add Mail Account
Enter Your Basic Details
On the “New Account” screen:
-
Name: Your name
-
Email: your full email address
-
Password: your email account password
-
Description: anything you like (e.g., “Work Email”)
Tap Next.
Choose IMAP
At the top, ensure IMAP is selected.
Enter Incoming Mail Server (IMAP)
Fill in the Incoming Mail Server section:

Enter Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
Fill in the Outgoing Mail Server section.
| Encryption | Host Name | Ports |

(Port 465 + SSL will also be detected automatically.)

???? Important: iPhones require authentication for sending — make sure Username + Password are entered.
Tap Next and wait while the iPhone verifies.
Final Steps
